January

As January is coming to a close I decided to bring together the month’s experiences with men in my first blog post.

I started the year on a bit of a low after a guy I’d been dating last year seemed to lose interest in me. He was tall, dark and handsome – mixed race with just the right amount of facial hair. Successful, charming and charismatic. We met on a night out in Manchester in September and hit it off straight away. He too had a child, although his son was only 6 months old, no judging on my part but he was very closed off about the situation with the Baby Momma…

We dated for a few months but his behaviour was inconsistent and I found him very hard to read. By the end of the year I decided to stop making an effort with him as I didn’t see the relationship going anywhere and he didn’t seem at all bothered when I gradually backed away from him. By the middle of this month I hadn’t seen him for 6 weeks and wasn’t hearing from him at all so I decided to delete his number – Meaning I didn’t have the option to go psycho or drunken dial, and I’ve never heard from him since.

… Commence eating lots of ice cream, watching Bridget Jones, then onto the next one …

I was out in Manchester with the girls on New Years Eve, we spent the night in The Oxford Club which is a beautiful and lively underground venue on Central Street.

I immediately made eye contact with one of my friend’s boyfriends mates, who’s been giving me the eye for almost two years now. The drinks were flowing all night and we had such a giggle with the girls. We all went back to a party together at the end of the night and at about 6am I ended up leaving with him. We had a great night/morning together and when we woke up he drove me to my car which was parked at my friends house. He wished me a Happy New Year and ironically made a pun about starting the year off with a bang… just before driving off I somehow managed to reverse into his brand new Mercedes. Oops… Safe to say I don’t expect that to go anywhere

Commence ice cream, Bridget Jones and onto the next one… (Actually I didn’t eat ice cream this time but I did watch Bridget Jones that night)

I met another guy this month, lets call him Ben. We met on a night out in Newcastle at the start of the month. Ben was tall (recurring theme, I like tall men) and successful (them too)… he was kind and conscientious, he stood talking to me all night and took my number. He text the next day and we met for dinner the following week.

He took me to a sushi restaurant in Newcastle called St Sushi and ordered a few sharing plates.

I thought the date went well and he dropped me home after dinner. The following week he invited me and my friends to meet him and his friends in a bar. We got ready and headed to meet them and when I entered the bar I saw him exchanging numbers with another girl?! I chatted to him for 15 minutes but he was very non-engaging and distant. I finished my drink, left the bar and deleted his number. No ice cream or Bridget Jones but did feel very confused. Why had he invited me there in the first place? No idea but lets not dwell on the past.

Final dating or should I say non-dating experience of the month is an ongoing textationship I have going on with a guy called Liam*. Liam and I met on Tinder a month or so ago and have been texting almost daily ever since. He’s very attractive and funny however despite my many subtle hints he’s never asked me on a date.

The moral of the story is, men are confusing. I’ll see where this textationship goes but the other three are ancient history and I’m ready to meet some fresh new faces in Feburary! I was hoping to have a date in time for Valentines day but it looks like I’ll be spending the night alone in bed watching Bridget Jones and eating ice cream.

Thanks for reading, I’d love to hear about your weird and wonderful dating experiences, insight into men or any tips you have below! xx
